Photography Workshops in Braintree Come and get creative!

Photography Workshops for Beginners in Braintree  – Now in bite size chunks!

Learn and practice a gentle pace.  This new workshop is spread over a 4 week period giving you plenty of time to practice after each session.  These new Photography Workshops for Beginners in Braintree are planned for February 2018 in Braintree for beginners who would like to get away from that auto button and get creative.  Meeting for two hours on four consecutive Saturday mornings you will learn how to use the manual controls to get photographs you’ll be proud of.  You’ll learn how to freeze and blur action, focus correctly, compose lovely shots and learn how to get that nice blurry background in your photographs.  These are hands on photography workshops so you’ll be taking plenty photographs.  Here is more information about the Photography Workshops in Braintree.

So what kind of camera do I need?

You need to have a camera that allows you creative control.  It can be a small compact, a bridge camera, SLR or a compact system camera.  Any of these are fine so long as you can use manual controls.  If you’re not sure drop me a line and I can check it out for you.

But I know absolutely nothing, can I still come along?

That’s the best place to be! Don’t worry, we start from the ground up and on the first workshop most people can just about switch on their cameras.  You’ll soon be snapping away and getting creative though.

Why can’t I just come for a day and learn everything in one go?

My experience of one day workshops is that people come for the day, digest alot of information and then don’t find the time to practice…which is the key to learning anything new!  Breaking down the workshop into 4 parts allows for a tiny bit of homework inbetween.  You can do as much or as little practice as you wish however you will be given homework so that you do revisit the subject you’ve just learned.  There’ll be plenty of practice available during the workshops too.

Will I understand all the terminology?

No techy talk is used! Instead the day is in easy to understand language and terminology is clearly explained.

Studio Photography Workshop in Braintree

A chance to learn how to master simple studio lighting.  Home studio kits are getting much more affordable these days so this course is aimed at getting you started with studio lighting.

We’ll spend the day at the Braintree studio where we will explore the difference between high key and low key lighting.  This means that we’ll use both white backgrounds where the lighting is bright and other colours where the lighting can be more moody.  You’ll be shown how to use the triggers, set up the lights and you’ll have plenty of time to experiment too.

Another huge part of studio photography is your interaction with your models.  These may be children, grown ups or professional models but all of them need to know what you’d like them to do!  This can take some practice so we will have some willing models at the studio so that you can get plenty of practice.

There will also be an overview of post production in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

Suitable for DSLR cameras.  You will need to have a basic understanding of aperture and ISO.
