‘Oh no she’s talking Christmas and it’s only October. I know I know! I’m not all that sorry because yesterday we had such a lot of fun in the studio photographing the little models for the Christmas Experience Mini Sessions.
My first models of the day were Ronnie aged 4 & Ivy aged 2. Ronnie was very excited at the prospect of meeting Father Christmas..he couldn’t wait to tell him what he’d like for Christmas! Little Ivy is still a bit young to understand but I’m sure Ronnie will educate her.
We keep the magical prospect of Father Christmas to one side to start with. After all I totally get that not all children would be as excited as Ronnie. Some, especially the younger children, are a bit cautious of characters which is completely understandable. So by taking a few shots first, throwing the odd snowball and generally having fun is a great way to start! Oh and enjoying a festive biscuit or two went down well of course…:).
Hmmm, bauble or biscuit?
There are two scenes set up in the studio. The above scene has a very ‘warm’ fuzzy feel to it and there are baubles to keep them entertained too. Here’s Ivy doing her BEST smile for me!
The other ‘scene’ is a snowy one complete with a sledge and indoor snowballs…they feel so real! Of course it’s a chance to throw a snowball at me…and that’s the whole idea. It’s fun and the children love it. After all how many children want to just sit and ‘smile’ for their photograph?
Then it was time for Santa to make his appearance. My studio is in my garden at home so he made his entrance from the house, down the steps and to the log cabin ringing his bell and Ho Ho Ho ing! It was brilliant, and to see little Ronnie’s face light up was just magical.
Ronnie was super keen to tell Santa what he’d like for Christmas…he whispered it so only Santa could hear…
And they chatted, shared a biscuit whilst we stood back and enjoyed the experience. Ronnie’s little sister, Ivy, was very happy to watch too. She wasn’t quite ready to sit with Santa, maybe next year!
Huge thanks to Ronnie & Ivy for being superb models!!
Next to arrive was the beautiful Lexi. I first photographed Lexi at 6 days old so it was fab to see her and her lovely Mummy & Daddy again. Lexi got stuck in straight away!
She just loved the baubles and had a great time throwing them at us!
Bauble mid flight!
So as you can imagine the snowballs were a hit too!
As Lexi is still very little we were aware that she might not warm to Father Christmas straight away! When she heard his bell she ran to the door and waved, it was such a gorgeous moment. Even I felt the emotion so heaven knows what her parents felt! She was cautious though, naturally. So Father Christmas came in, chatted to her and sat down. He offered her a bauble and of course she couldn’t resist..
And that’s it, they were friends.
We couldn’t believe it, bless her! We pulled up a chair so she could chat with Santa a little longer.
These are truly magical moments, a great experience for everyone. Father Christmas had to go to attend to his Reindeer so he left us to enjoy a few more snowballs!
I wonder which photographs will make it to become Christmas cards this year!
This isn’t just a photoshoot, it’s an experience and a memorable one at that too. Thank you so much to Ronnie, Ivy & Lexi for being wonderful models yesterday. I can’t wait for the Christmas Experience Mini Sessions on 28th October and 4th November! Find out more about the sessions here
