Every Birthday Experience Cake Smash is delightful and little Darcie’s was no exception! I’d already met Darcie when she was tiny so I was excited to see how much she’d changed in the year.
This is Darcie when I first photographed her at 12 weeks old…
So much changes in that first year, little Darcie was already learning how to stand up and she certainly knows how to work it for the camera! Here she is with her lovely Mummy & Daddy..
Darcie is particularly fond of Daddy’s wallet!! She’ll go a long way!
I love natural images like this, they’re so precious capturing a time when Darcie was just learning to walk.
Now most children are keen to get near the cake, of course. I like to get a photograph of it intact but I had to be quick because Darcie was not going to be held back for long!! I succeeded, here it is almost intact before Darcy managed to use the spoon to lever out a huge chunk! Go girl!
The cakes are made by the very talented Little Lucy’s Bakery in Braintree, each one personally designed to match the customer’s colour schemes. I love the colour of this one, so pretty.
Darcie’s Mummy found the little outfit online, isn’t it cute?
Look at me standing up! Throughout the session you could see her walking confidence building, so much so that it was fun to walk in cake too. Well why not, it’s not every day you get to stamp in cake!
At the end of the cake smash we put the chunks of cake left into the box so that it can be taken home. Darcie was keen to ‘help’, packing it, unpacking it, packing it, unpacking it…
Time for a clean up, a super splashy bath is a fun way to do that. I use natural light for these shots which I just love. Not only does it keep the area free of cables which is practical when there’s water about, it’s a lovely way to bring out their beautiful eyes.
Sometimes my ginger cat, George, comes to visit the studio. It’s always worth a little peek, even if you are in your Birthday Suit!
Oh Darcie you were such a treat to photograph. Thank you so much for making the visit to the studio.
