One day small group photography workshops in Braintree and Colchester for beginners who would like to get away from that auto button and get more creative and those who’d like to learn a bit more. Learn how to use the manual controls to get photographs you’ll be proud of. You’ll learn how to freeze and blur action, focus correctly, compose lovely shots and learn how to get that nice blurry background in your photographs. These are hands on photography workshops both inside and out so you’ll be taking plenty photographs. Here is more information about the Photography Workshops in Braintree and Colchester.
You need to have a camera that allows you creative control. It can be a small compact, a bridge camera, SLR or a compact system camera. Any of these are fine so long as you can use manual controls. If you’re not sure drop me a line and I can check it out for you.
That’s the best place to be! We start from the ground up and on the first beginner day most people can just about switch on their cameras. You’ll soon be snapping away and getting creative though.
No, not really. You’ll be taught some functions which you’ll practice. You then must practice at home to really get to grips with it. Day 2 does recap and you’ll learn even more. I used to teach everything in one day but it was just too much!
No techy talk is used! Instead the day is in easy to understand language and terminology is clearly explained.

New for 2017, a chance to learn how to master simple studio lighting. Home studio kits are getting much more affordable these days so this course is aimed at getting you started with studio lighting.
We’ll spend the day at the Braintree studio where we will explore the difference between high key and low key lighting. This means that we’ll use both white backgrounds where the lighting is bright and other colours where the lighting can be more moody. You’ll be shown how to use the triggers, set up the lights and you’ll have plenty of time to experiment too.
Another huge part of studio photography is your interaction with your models. These may be children, grown ups or professional models but all of them need to know what you’d like them to do! This can take some practice so we will have some willing models at the studio so that you can get plenty of practice.
There will also be an overview of post production in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Suitable for DSLR cameras. You will need to have a basic understanding of aperture and ISO. Only 4 places are available on this day so book now to reserve your place.
